WineWorks New Zealand implemented NEDAP vehicle identification technology to support secure access management while maintaining the smooth flow of authorised vehicles throughout its facility.

WineWorks was created to support New Zealand winemakers and the industry. Since 1995, we’ve been providing the country’s winemakers with world-class technology, expansive facilities, and exceptional service including bottling, storage, and distribution of wine. We help to minimise investment, effort and stress while delivering efficiencies. Wineworks specialises in: wine transport, bottling, packaging, laboratory, warehousing & distribution, online services and certifications.

WineWorks looked to Nedap for help when it needed to set up access control for trailers moving between buildings at its Marlborough site in New Zealand. This site alone can produce around 45,000 bottles an hour. The long-range identification system installed helps keep production flowing by allowing trailers and other vehicles to move through buildings without stopping at production facility entrances, exits and gates.

Implementing Nedap’s uPass technology has brought a variety of commercial advantages for WineWorks.

Streamlined access: when the trailers, forklifts, or scooters approach a door or gate, it opens smoothly, with no delay.
Improved security: having the uPass heavy-duty tags fixed to the machinery means there’s no opportunity for identifiers to be misused or get lost or left behind.
Increased efficiency: this system gives WineWorks a cost-effective way to quickly and securely identify vehicles at a distance.
User friendly: drivers don’t need to stop or get out of the vehicle to gain access through the gates.
